Resident Evil 4 is set in 2004, exactly 6 years after the destruction of Racoon City due to a virus outbreak in the previous game. Leon S. Kennedy, the protagonist of RE2 is back in action against zombies.

Leon who in the RE2 game is a rookie cop in rcpd, now switched profession to become a government agent. His mission in this Resident Evil 4 game is to save the Daughter of the President of america.

The girl named Ashley Graham was kidnapped by a mysterious sect in Spain called Los Illuminados. Leon is sent to a remote village to begin his search.

However, Ashley's captors are not ordinary criminals who ask for rations, but rather a sect with biological weapons named Las Plagas that is able to turn the villagers into monsters.
